Insta360 Luna Ultra Now Available for Pre-Order in Germany
The highly anticipated Insta360 Luna Ultra is now available for pre-order in Germany, giving us a closer look at what could become one of DJI’s biggest rivals in the pocket camera space. German retailer Foto Erhardt has opened reservations for the camera with a €50 deposit, strongly suggesting that an official launch is just around the corner.
The Luna Ultra marks Insta360’s first major entry into the dedicated pocket gimbal camera segment, following the company’s rapid expansion into drones and action cameras.
Dual Cameras Co-Engineered With Leica
One of the headline features of the Luna Ultra is its dual-camera setup developed in partnership with Leica. The main camera features a 1-inch image sensor paired with a Leica Summicron lens, positioning it firmly in the premium compact creator market.
The camera is capable of recording up to 8K video and supports 10-bit I-Log color profiles for more advanced grading workflows. Leica color profiles are also included for users who prefer the brand’s signature color rendering.
High-End Video Features
The Luna Ultra can also shoot 4K video at up to 120 frames per second for slow-motion capture. Supported recording formats include MP4 and H.265 for efficient high-quality video storage.
Insta360 is equipping the camera with a 3-axis mechanical gimbal along with its new Triple AI chip and Deep Track subject tracking technology. The system is designed to improve subject recognition, stabilization, and framing during handheld shooting.
The camera also supports up to 12x lossless zoom, giving creators more flexibility when capturing distant subjects or tighter compositions.

Detachable Remote Display
A standout feature of the Luna Ultra is its detachable touchscreen remote control. Users can separate the display from the camera body to remotely control the gimbal and monitor footage from a distance.
This could be especially useful for solo creators, vloggers, livestreamers, and tripod-based filming setups where monitoring framing remotely is essential.
The feature also helps distinguish the Luna Ultra from current DJI Pocket models, which still rely on fixed integrated displays.
Battery and Storage
The Luna Ultra records directly to microSD cards and is rated for up to four hours of battery life, depending on recording settings and resolution.
Given the camera’s high-end specifications and dual-camera setup, the extended runtime could make it a compelling option for travel creators and documentary shooters.
Pricing and Availability
Insta360 has not yet officially revealed pricing for the Luna Ultra, though current estimates place it somewhere between $780 and $960, depending on the bundle configuration.
That would position the Luna Ultra firmly in the premium pocket camera segment and notably above the pricing of DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 lineup.
