Insta360 Luna Ultra Appears at B&H Photo Ahead of Official Launch
The highly anticipated Insta360 Luna Ultra is now available for pre-order at B&H Photo, giving us our clearest look yet at the upcoming pocket camera. While Insta360 has not formally announced the camera, the active product listing appears to function as a soft launch, revealing many of the Luna Ultra’s key specifications.
The Luna Ultra has generated significant interest among content creators, particularly as a potential competitor to the DJI Osmo Pocket 4P. With DJI’s latest pocket cameras still unavailable in the United States, the Luna Ultra could fill an important gap in the market.
Dual Cameras and Triple AI Processing
According to the B&H Photo listing, the Luna Ultra features a dual-camera system consisting of a 1-inch sensor for the main camera and a 1/1.3-inch sensor for the telephoto camera.
Reports suggest the primary camera uses a 20mm equivalent lens, while the telephoto camera offers a 70mm equivalent focal length. Both cameras are supported by a triple AI chip designed to improve image quality, low-light performance, and computational processing.
The telephoto camera also supports up to 12x zoom and 6x lossless zoom, giving creators additional flexibility when shooting portraits, interviews, and distant subjects.
8K Recording and Leica Color Profiles
The Luna Ultra is capable of recording up to 8K30 video with Dolby Vision HDR support. Additional video modes include 4K120 slow motion and 4K60 PureVideo recording.
While the B&H listing currently lists the video file format as unspecified, previous reports indicate support for Insta360’s I-Log color profile. The camera is also said to be compatible with ACES workflows and features Leica-engineered color profiles and cinematic filters for more advanced color grading.
For social media creators, the Luna Ultra can also record 4K60 vertical video and capture 4K Live Frame photos directly from video footage.

Detachable Screen Reveals New Capabilities
One of the Luna Ultra’s standout features is its detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen controller. While Insta360 has already teased the removable display, the product listing reveals additional details about its capabilities.
The detachable remote can transmit a live view feed from up to 65 feet away, allowing users to remotely monitor footage and control camera settings. The remote also features a built-in wireless microphone, making it useful for recording dialogue and vlogs when shooting from a distance.
For solo creators, this could be one of the most compelling features of the camera, offering a level of flexibility rarely seen in the pocket camera category.
Built for Content Creators
The Luna Ultra combines its dual-camera system with a three-axis mechanical gimbal for stabilized footage. Additional features include AI-powered subject tracking and direct support for the Insta360 Mic Pro wireless microphone system.
Battery life is rated at up to four hours, which would make it one of the longer-lasting pocket cameras currently available.
The camera also features Beauty Mode, which can smooth skin texture and brighten complexions for livestreams, vlogs, and portrait-focused content.
Pricing and Availability
The Insta360 Luna Ultra Standard Combo is now available for pre-order at B&H Photo for $769.99.
Insta360 is also offering several accessories, including an ND Filter Set for $59.99, while the Black Mist Filter and Wide-Angle Lens are each priced at $39.99.
Although Insta360 has not announced an official launch date, the appearance of a complete product listing and active pre-orders suggests that a full launch may be just around the corner.
